Forgesight’s Guide for a Successful Foundry Implementation
Foundry Deployments Don’t Need to Be Complicated. But They Do Need to Be Done Right.
We’ve seen it again and again: organizations invest in a powerful platform like Palantir—but stall out due to unclear scope, limited in-house expertise, or misalignment between IT and business.
That’s why successful Foundry implementations follow a repeatable playbook. Here’s ours.
Step 1: Define the First Use Case
- Start small and strategic: pick one urgent, high-impact business challenge.
- Common examples: procurement optimization, workforce planning, or regulatory compliance.
Step 2: Build Your Ontology
- Structure your organizational knowledge: people, processes, assets, outcomes and build out a 360-degree representation.
- This enables intuitive apps, workflows, and governance.
Step 3: Integrate the Data
- Use connectors, APIs, and ingestion pipelines to bring in source data.
- Emphasize quality, provenance, and permissions early.
Step 4: Build the App
- Develop a Quiver or Code Workbook application that solves the selected use case.
- Embed analytics, workflows, and documentation directly in the tool.
Step 5: Enable the Team
- Train users early—ideally while the app is being built.
- Embed Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs) to support adoption and iteration.
Step 6: Expand with Confidence
- Once the first use case is live, use it to align stakeholders and build momentum.
- Maintain a backlog of additional use cases, prioritized by value.
